The PALS course is designed to provide pediatric healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children and help improve outcomes. PALS is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics.
The AHA’s PALS Course has been updated to reflect science in the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. This classroom, Instructor-led course uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.
This class is approximately 12 hours.
Intended Audience:
Pediatricians, emergency room personnel, family, and other physicians, physician assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other providers required to initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies.
The PALS Class covers:
•The systematic approach to Pediatric Assessment •Management of pediatric respiratory emergencies
•Vascular access (Including intraosseous training) •Airway Management
•PALS Pharmacology •Basic Life Support (BLS) review •Numerous pediatric case studies and simulations
•How to be both a leader and a team member in a pediatric resuscitation team
